Is WOW (World of Warcrat) worth it?

I'm thinking about trying it out. I have played lots of rpgs from cheap free one such as Runescape and AdventureQuest, Xbox 360 titles such as oblivion, Fable, And Borderlands, and free online games such as Perfect world and Forsaken World. I was wondering because i have a friend that plays its all the time and i usually play perfect world entertainments games with him. How are the classes in the game, are there lots of quests, is it a grinding game, how are the weapon's systems, you you smith your own items and do jobs like that. Thank you
