Does the Bible remind you of something a father might tell his daughter...?
To keep her pure, make her obedient, loving, fearful, simple, willing to please, generous, kind, ... to make her wait for her knight in shining armor (salvation) patiently and with open arms, forsaking everything else but service to her elders?
