Why do christians insist that jesus is GOD?

Why? how can he be? I know I know, the holy trinity is one but I beleive it means they are the same path to god. by following them you can achieve the final goal. when you become one with your spouse does that mean your the same person? hell no. When jesus was on the cross did he not pray to god? "father why have you forsaken me" or something like that. Worship the God not the messenger. you all believe so strongly that jesus is god, but it is not so and by worshiping him as God is sinnful. thou shal not worship any god before me. Go ahead and learn his teachings and follow him, but at the same time worship God and not jesus. JESUS IS NOT GOD NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WANT HIM TO BE>
